Skills and Interests

Match your skills and interests to the committee(s) that you find most appealing. We will do our best to put you on a committee of your choosing.

Standing committees include:

Lake Run: Help produce one of the top annual events in Lake Oswego. This event has a variety of tasks, from interfacing with vendors, the City, and local media, to coordinating volunteers and working closely with sponsors.

Public Relations: Help build relationships between LOWC and key community groups and local media, as well as write press releases and create ways to promote our events and charitable goals. Find new ways to tell the world about the great things we are doing in our Club all year long.

Sponsorship: Contact prospective businesses (and past sponsors) on behalf of LOWC events and follow up on contract signing, collection of funds, collecting and disseminating sponsor logos to appropriate LOWC committees.

Meetings: Help arrange for all general meetings, from identifying hostesses/venues to arranging appropriate refreshments and any associated speakers and fundraising/charity-drive activities. Communicate and administrate invitations/announcements, track RSVPs, etc.

Philanthropy: Help promote, evaluate and disburse LOWC grants and scholarships, including site visitations of grant applicants, interviews with scholarship applicants while adhering to evaluation criteria.

Fashion Show: Help produce the first major event of our year. Determine venue, layout and overall coordination of event, including fittings/outfits, selecting models, speakers. Procure items for silent auction and raffle. Write descriptive script for MC as well as PR and emails. Select/create decorations for invitations, tabletop, and more.

Social Events: Help coordinate social events for members throughout the year, including determining the appropriate scope and cost, invitations, promotion, RSVP tracking, and processing of payment. Past examples inclue poker night, holiday party, happy hours, monthly coffees, Cinco de Mayo party.

Technology: There are various roles under the technology umbrella including 'blogger', website administrator and social media coordinator. The 'blogger' collects and organizes the information for the monthly blog. Web administrator updates the LOWC website as needed and works with committee chairs to promote current events and communicate LOWC's philanthropic endeavors. The social media coordinator maintains our Facebook pages.

All LOWC members serve on one or more of our committees and each of us fulfills a 4-hour shift at the Lake Run event.

Our charitable work is accomplished by our members.  Thank you for your commitment, energy and ideas!
